The Breakfast club Remake planning
The Breakfast Club
The Breakfast club is teen a film made in 15 February 1985, directed/written by John Hughes. The film is rated an 8.0 on IMDb.Our task is to remake the opening the the 1985 hit film shot by shot, which means to replicate every shot and angle which is used within the opening.
We will be filming our remake on the college grounds and surrounding area,we will rely heavily on use of props in order to make our remake look as close to the original as possible. There are a variety of different characters which will need to be played in our remake, parents, students, teachers and a sibling. These parts will be acted by both member of our group, classmates and other college students.

Understanding Binary Oppositions
This post will give a brief account of what binary oppositions are and how they come into effect in teen movies.
Positive and negative connotations evoke how a word is understood. Binary oppositions demonstrate controversy and/or conflicting ideas in media and literature features. For example, 'hero vs coward', 'pretty vs ugly' and 'poor vs rich.' In teen movies this is usually exposed through mise-en-scene and sound. A classic example of this comes from the film "Freedom Writers."
The binary opposition present in this film are 'poor vs rich,' 'hero vs coward' and 'calm vs angry.' This is depicted through each actors' costume, props, gestures/movement as well as diagetic and non diagetic sound.

Donnie Darko Opening Analysis: Mise en scene
In today's lesson we were given a 'Donnie Darko Blogging Task'. The task was to analyse how locations and mise-en-scene, editing, camera work and the presence of characters portrayed their school environment in relation to teen movies.
Location & Mise en scene
The audience immediately establish the genre of this movie due to the school uniform worn by almost all of the persons included in the opening shots. We observe students converse, groom themselves in locker mirrors, and at one stage, witness a student handling drugs. The movement of the actors and props combined illustrate the common features of teenage behaviour therefore compliments the socially prescribed view of the high school experience.
Locations involved in the opening sequence includes a classroom, the school corridor and the outdoor space for students. Most teen movies are set inside a school building and its surrounding terrain so the content of this movie has been established successfully.
